RICS: First-time buyer figures on the up

Demand from first-time buyers looking to purchase flats for sale in Dartmouth and other places is on the
increase.
This is according to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
(RICS), which explains that the north-west is seeing the highest
proportion of first-time buyers, as they currently amount to 23 per
cent of the market.
East Anglia recorded the lowest amount with six per cent.
The research also found that those looking to enter the buy to let market are focusing their attentions
on houses rather than flats.
Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at RICS, said: "House price falls
and lower interest rates have gone some way to tempting first-time
buyers back into the market."
However, he notes that cautiousness among lenders means that some
people are still struggling to obtain a deposit for a
property.
RICS is a professional body working to maintain qualifications and
standards in the property, land and construction
industries.
