Loft conversions rated 10 out of 10 for home improvements

People looking to add value to their home should consider a loft
conversion, according to Halifax.
Valuers from the mortgage lender have ranked how much a range of
different home improvements can up the price of a property,
depending on location and circumstance.
They rated loft conversions as ten out of ten, saying that in
places where land and property prices are at a premium, they can
provide "excellent" value for money.
However, the firm also cautioned that unless done properly, a loft
conversion can actually detract from the value of a home, so it may
be a good idea to seek advice from a chartered surveyor.
Coming in equal second place were new kitchens and a spot of
painting and decorating, both of which were scored eight out of
ten.
At the end of last week, it was announced by TD Waterhouse that
housebuilder Taylor Wimpey had climbed to fourth place in the top
retailer sells list, thus improving confidence in the sector.
