Homebuyers given advice on choosing tracker or fixed mortgages

People visiting estate
agents to find their dream home have been given some advice on
choosing the ideal mortgage.
According to the Daily Mail, Yorkshire Bank and Skipton Building
Society are two of the best places to go for a fixed-rate deal,
while HSBC and the Post Office both have appealing tracker products
on offer.
The newspaper highlighted the availability of "decent" fixed-rate
mortgages at Nationwide and the building societies of Nottingham,
Norwich and Peterborough.
For people that are planning to remortgage without much equity in
their home, the publication recommended fixed-rate products from
Santander, Skipton Building Society and Cheltenham and
Gloucester.
It also drew attention to the offset mortgage offered by First
Direct and Woolwich for individuals seeking an alternative to their
savings accounts.
Buyers looking at houses for sale in Bristol, Brighton or elsewhere
may be interested in a newly launched product from Leeds Building
Society.
Last week, the lender unveiled a two-year discount mortgage with a
rate of 2.54 per cent.
